| At first, this blog is going to seem hypocritical in light of the fact that I just finished two blogs pointed directly at the heretical teachings of the TBN raise-a-thon week.But I want to confront an issue that is extremely popular on blogs and regular old religious talk, that of bashing other faiths as either demonic or pagan, but specifically Catholicism.There's a few blogs in particular that I've seen recently.One claiming that Catholicism is a pagan religion and?another claiming that a certain?nut-job charismatic church is demonic (and yes, they were nut-jobs, no doubt about it). |
| One claiming that Catholicism is a pagan religion and?another claiming that a certain?nut-job charismatic church is demonic (and yes, they were nut-jobs, no doubt about it).The problem I found in both cases was that the authors and many of their responders were quick to condemn the other faiths, threw caution and understanding to the wind and slapped a title on the faiths?as a quick escape from?their own misunderstanding and ignorance.You see this all the time.People become so programmed in their little places of conformity that when they look out from their key hole on the rest of the world they can't help but?declare it 'EVIL.' |

I'm guilty of idolatry in my heart on a daily basis.Everytime I put work, relationships, cares, self, anything before the Lord my heart is entertaining idolatry.Back on topic, my bashing of TBN was directed to specific doctrinal teaching that I found to be an afront to scripture. |
| Back on topic, my bashing of TBN was directed to specific doctrinal teaching that I found to be an afront to scripture.In these cases, much of the attacks center around the individual's perspective of the organization, not scriptural contradictions.Here's what I'd love to know from anyone reading this, if you're Catholic, what about Catholicism convinces you that it is the correct path.Those of you who are not Catholic and are reasonably informed on the faith, what are your reasons for opposing it? |
